Q Guild gold winner 2015

C Johnson and Sons have just won another NINE awards at the annual Smithfield Awards. Our Writtle Sausages have now won a total of four consecutive Gold medals, on top of a silver European medal. We at C Johnson and Sons Butchers strive to produce the best hand-made foods that we can, and by receiving these awards we get an industry “seal of approval”. Monica Galletti judge the products this year and said how good it is to have a small company like ours to have such a passion for food.

Q Guild gold winner 2014

C Johnson and Sons butchers have just won another 11 awards at the National Q Guild Butchers Awards. Presenting this year was Matthew Fort, food critic for The Guardian and “Great British Menu” judge. We won gold for our sausages, pies, oven ready meals and much more. Owner Chi Johnson said “we are pleased to be recognised as one of Britain’s best butchers, and our dedication to making the perfect dishes has paid off”.

C Johnson & Son, of Corbets Tey Road, Upminster, Essex, scooped a grand total of eight gold awards for its Writtle Pork Chipolata, Fleur’s Mozzarella Chicken, Georgio’s Pork and Veal Meatballs, Grandad H’s Sausage, Caramelised Onion & St Peter’s Ale Pork Sausage, Veal, Pork and Chive Burger, 3 Cheese & Caramelised Onion Tart, and Nanny Grace’s Black Bacon. Q Guild diamond award winner 2012

C Johnson & Son, a local butcher based in Upminster, has won a top award at the 2012 Smithfield Awards, a national product evaluation which is among the most coveted in the meat industry. The prestigious awards are organised by the Q Guild of Butchers, which is the UK’s top independent butchers’ organisation. The evaluation consists of nine categories. Within each, products can win one of four awards – Diamond, Gold, Silver or Bronze. One of the Diamond award products is then selected as the overall winner of the evaluation. Further awards by sponsors of the event are also given out.
